TVA ALLEN COMBINED CYCLE PLANT - MEMPHIS, TN

As part of its commitment to expand fuel diversity, Tennessee Valley Authority replaced its coal-fired units at the Allen Fossil Plant with a natural gas plant. The new facility is a 2x1 combined cycle plant with a 1,100-megawatt generation capacity.

The Kiewit team was awarded the contract to engineer, procure and construct the project located on the southwest corner of Memphis in Shelby County, TN. The project will utilize two GE HA.02 combustion turbines provided by TVA and a Toshiba steam turbine. The project includes Vogt HRSGs with supplemental firing, steam surface condenser, and mechanical draft cooling tower. Campbell & Ford Construction, Inc. was contracted by Kiewit Power Constructors to build the Administration Building from the slab to interior buildout. We were also responsible for placing and finishing all the concrete on site. We placed and finished over the course of 16 months approximately 45,000 cubic yards of concrete. Campbell & Ford also built the Water Treatment Building from the slab to interior build-out as well.
